Multi-Day Trips
Ponca to Pruitt (26 miles)
Our most popular multi-day canoeing trip is the Ponca to Pruitt stretch, a 26-mile float that takes a minimum of 2 days to complete. This trip includes the best scenery the Buffalo National River has to offer, including Big Bluff, Hemmed-In Hollow, Kyle’s Landing, and Erbie.

Pruitt to Mt. Hersey (20 miles)
When water levels have us launching downriver at Pruitt (just off Hwy. 7, about 5 miles north of Jasper), the typical 2-day canoe trip is from Pruitt to Mt. Hersey, a 20-mile canoe trip.

Other Options
Beginning at Ponca, there are 132 miles of Buffalo National River to explore and many ways to plan a multi-day trip. Take a look at our interactive Buffalo River map or call us at 1-800-221-5514 to learn more about your launch and take-out options and the river mileage between them.

you rent 3 or more days!

Multi-Day Canoe Rental
Call us at 1-800-221-5514 to book your canoe(s). For weekend rentals, you’ll want to book in advance as we are always 100% booked on Saturdays, oftentimes a month ahead of time. Please note that rafts and kayaks are not available for multi-day rental.

Getting On The River
First, come to our office in Ponca between 8:00 AM and Noon to determine your launch site, complete your national park contract, and pay for your canoe(s) and vehicle shuttle. Once this is complete, you will drive to the launch site, where our staff will have boats, paddles, PFDs and trash bags waiting for you.

How Our Multi-Day Shuttle Service Works
We will shuttle your car from the launch site to the take out, unless, of course, your party has multiple cars and you prefer to do it yourself. Here are some helpful things to know about us shuttling your car:
  • Shuttles do not have to be booked in advance, even on weekends.
  • Bringing a spare key with you is helpful.
  • Multi-day trip vehicles are moved either the day before or the day of your take out, depending upon our schedule.
  • We make every effort to have your vehicle delivered to the take out before your arrive, and succeed in accomplishing this most of the time. However, a high demand for shuttles, weather conditions, traffic, and other factors can occasionally create a delay. Thank you for your patience if this should occur.
  • Changing your take-out plans once you’re on the river can be done, and we are happy to help you with it. However, you should call us immediately from a phone at the nearest National Park Service campground to tell us about the change. Most of the time we can accommodate the change when it is received at least 24 hours in advance. Short-notice changes (less than 24 hours out) can be difficult to accommodate and, at times, even impossible to fulfill.
